Bobby Moynihan Leaves ‘SNL’ for CBS Series ‘Me, Myself, & I’

Next Saturday marks the end of Saturday Night Live‘s 42nd season, along with the announcement of veteran cast member Bobby Moynihan making an exit to pursue other projects. Having been apart of the cast for nine seasons, Moynihan is perhaps best known for portraying Chris Christie, Guy Fieri, and Snooki on the show.

Moynihan spoke candidly at the 2017 CBS Upfronts on Wednesday about living out his dream on SNL, saying, “It was the best-that’s all I wanted to do.” But, his departure was expected, according to Variety, who says the actor landed a part in CBS’ Fall 2017 comedy series Me, Myself, & I. Moynihan will star as a 40-year-old man, Alex, an inventor who recounts three different periods of his life, Moynihan playing the middle period. The series will also star Jack Dylan Grazer and John Larroquette.

E! News reports, while it hasn’t been announced if SNL will formally plan his departure on the upcoming season finale, Moynihan didn’t hold back on how he feels about leaving, saying he’s, “So scared.” He said at the CBS Upfronts, but adding, “We’ll see. My life’s dream was to be on that show and I don’t ever want to leave, but the show did get picked up so we’ll see,” he said with a chuckle.

Me, Myself, & I will premier this Fall on CBS Mondays at 9:30 p.m. ET. Kapital Entertainment will produce alongside Warner Bros. Television. Dan Kopelman will write and executive produce alongside Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor, and Randall Einhorn who directed the pilot.

On Saturday, SNL‘s last episode of season 42 will bring in Baywatch star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to host, with music performed by pop-singer and new American Idol judge Katy Perry.
