‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ Revival ‘BH90210’ Has a Premiere Date Set on Fox

When fans of the 90s hit TV series Beverly Hills, 90210 heard there would be a reboot, the first thing that they wanted to know was if the original cast members would return. It was confirmed that Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Shannen Doherty, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, and Brian Austin Green would reprise their roles in revival BH90210 as “heightened versions of themselves in a brand-new serialized drama – with a healthy dose of irreverence – that is inspired by their real lives and relationships.”

Jason Priestley, who plays Brandon Walsh, was excited to reunite with his fellow cast members after such a long period of time.

“Since all of us had been at one of those gallery shoots together, it had been 25 years, so it was really kind of special,” said Priestley. “We all had lot of fun that day, there was a lot of joking around. They had a hard time getting us to actually focus and do anything because we were all messing around so much.”

One cast member, however, was missing – Luke Perry. Perry had passed away on March 4 due to a stroke. Although Perry didn’t sign up for the reboot, the actor meant a lot to the cast who looks to this reboot with a different perspective.

“It’s incredibly special, and I think that we all appreciate it more, and appreciate our fellow castmates a little more now,” said Priestley. “When we were younger in our twenties, everything was just part of the job, right? Whereas now I think that we all have more perspective on things because we’re older and we understand more. Since I’ve worked on that show, I’ve worked on 100 other projects, and working on all those other projects gives you an appreciation for how special that time was. When we were all in the middle of it, it was so chaotic and it was so crazy at times, it was difficult to appreciate the specialness of that time. We all have a much healthier perspective on it now. All of my castmates, we all experienced something together that not a lot of people get to experience.”

Jennie Garth returns as Kelly Taylor and there’s only one way she can describe the reboot.

“It’s about the characters behind the characters,” Jennie Garth tells EW. “It’s inside the lives of people that lived in those shoes for those 10 years, and it’s about them coming back together.”

Donna Martin’s Tori Spelling is happy to be back with her old friends again.

“We’re all really excited to get back to work with each other every day,” said Spelling. “We’ve come full circle and it feels really great. This is the ultimate high school reunion and we’re going to be back together every day and I’m so excited.”

The six-episode series now has an official premiere date and a teaser trailer. BH90210 will premiere on Wednesday, August 7 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
