BBC’s The Fall to join Netflix Instant

There’s good news for those of us who have been catching up with Gillian Anderson on Netflix’s stream of the X-Files. Anderson has been starring in The Fall, a British crime drama from BBC Two, which went to Netflix Instant yesterday, May 28.

The Fall is a five-part miniseries created by Allan Cubitt that follows Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson) as she investigates a series of murders in Belfast, Ireland. Gibson is called in to help the PSNI who have been unable to solve the murders for 28 days. She becomes the leader in the effort to stop the serial killer terrorizing Belfast.

In addition to the X-Files veteran, the show also stars Jamie Dornan (Once Upon A Time) as Belfast’s first ever serial killer (and a former Calvin Klein model) who is hidden in plain sight from Gibson despite his outstanding good looks. Fans of the Good Wife will also recognize Archie Panjabi as Tanya Reed Smith, a pathologist helping in the case. The miniseries also features several actors from the popular British soap opera Hollyoaks.

Bronagh Waugh, one former Hollyoaks star, plays the wife of serial killer Dornan, Sally Ann Sector. When talking to the British news source Unreality Primetime, Waugh said, “You learn so much by watching [Gillian Anderson], her subtleties, and she thinks of the lines on the spot. At first you’d think she was forgetting her lines, but she’s just so in the moment. She’s a legend.”

The Fall has been receiving a lot of good news lately. In addition to now being streamed on Netflix, the series was also renewed for a second season earlier this week.
