BBC To Give Hit Cooking Drama ‘Boiling Point’ Its Own Series

According to the Hollywood Reporter, BBC is developing a sequel series to the 2021 one-shot British cooking drama, Boiling Point. For those not in the know, Boiling Point is a multiple BAFTA nominated film which tells the story of head chef Andy Jones, played by Stephen Graham (Snatch, The Walk-In), and the turbulence that he and his cooking crew encounter in their restaurant over the course of one, painfully long evening.

As written by the Hollywood Reporter, the five-part series will be set six months after the events of the film and follows sous chef Carly, played by Vinette Robinson (Sherlock, Black Mirror), who now finds herself as head chef of her own restaurant. The show will also feature many of Boiling Point’s original cast, including Graham, who will be reprising his role as chef Andy Jones, and Hannah Walters (Whitechapel, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) who will be returning as Emily.

Also returning will be Philip Barantini (Chernobyl, Band of Brothers) who is set to direct the first two episodes of the series adaptation alongside writer James Cummings (Accused, Split Sole), as well as Hester Ruoff (A Violent Man, Gerry) and Bart Ruspoli (Band of Brothers, Genesis) who will reprise their roles as executive producers with Ascendant Fox. Graham and Walters will also executive produce the show for their company, Matriarch Productions (the 2021 film version of Boiling Point also happens to be the studio’s first-ever production).

According to both Ruspoli and Ruoff, the Boiling Point series will focus heavily on the very essence of the restaurant and hospitality industry. Graham and Walters also write that they are exhilarated to further explore and flesh out their established characters from the original film, as well as the batch of new characters who will be exclusive to the show.

Currently, Boiling Point is slated for a release date sometime in 2023.
