‘Batwoman’ Announces its Full Season As CW’s Streaming Changes

Picking up an additional 9 episodesBatwoman brings the full season count up to 22 episodes in the CW’s latest announcement. The network is definitely putting in their vote of confidence as the seasonal orders finalize with other franchises like All American and Legacies. These series received an additional 3 more episodes each, also renewing for the second season. Batwoman is CW’s expected marketing for more entertainment, and so far the plan has paid off.

The network embraced additional episodes of other episodes  like Nancy Drew, seeing significant improvements in overall audience viewership. Batwoman’s ratings have statistically grown 73% among adults 18-34 for instance, while Nancy Drew has at a stunning 94% in gains for the same group. The current trend is noticeable and the CW hopes to capitalize on that potential.

In the meanwhile, Batwoman has been in the very front of CW’s new deal and premieres as the second most watched show, only behind The Flash. Featuring Ruby Rose in its lead, the show is set in a Gotham where the Batman has mysteriously disappeared. Criminal gangs take charge as the infamous hero is long gone, leaving only Rose to take up the mantle. Branding her own style of justice, despite her father’s wishes, she’s the new dark knight vigilante with an eye on Gotham.

It’s also worth noting that there are now bigger incentives for networks like the CW to keep these strong performer series alive. Netflix’s deal is a major part of Batwoman’s inevitable +9 episode announcement, as it was released right after it ended. Changes to the streaming rights versus the traditional burst of five episodes has given it the flexibility it needs to stay independent on its creative licenses. The new show will exclusively stream on CW’s platforms Sundays at 8 PM as the network moves forward with its plan of action.
