Ayo Edebiri Goes Full Coach To Pump Up SNL Cast Members In New Promo

Yes, coach! Rising actor superstar Ayo Edibiri (Bottoms, The Bear)  is getting ready to roll as the latest host for Saturday Night Live. In the latest promo video, Edibiri is serving as not only the head coach for the clip and episode but also as the head cheerleader as she attempts to hype up the cast of SNL to the best of her ability. If it were up to fans who are gearing up for this episode, not a ton of amping up would be needed. But, in this promotional video sketch, that doesn’t seem to be happening.

The promo starts with a shot of several SNL cast members lounging around in Studio 8H with Mikey Day (Is It Cake?) expressing how tired he is after doing two shows in a row, As fellow cast mates Ego Nwodim (Spin Me Round) and Molly Kearney (A League of Their Own) agree with Day that they are too tired to do the next show, Edeniri walks in with a tone of disappointment. She then dives into a bunch of hyperbolic facts about the upcoming show while maintaining an inspirational cadence quite similar to a coach right out of Ted Lasso.

“This is the first show that will be live on Saturday night,” she tells the trio of comedians. As they call her out for her incorrect factoids, Edebiri confesses that all of the skewed information is coming from a place of excitement and exaggeration as she is growing nervous as it is her first time hosting the show. She then goes on to add that she is especially nervous because Jennifer Lopez is hosting, which then breaks the SNL cast members out of their weary attitudes toward their third show in a row.

This upcoming Saturday, February 3 Edebiri will be hosting SNL for the first time. She just recently won both an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her work on the Hulu TV show, The Bear. Lopez on the other hand will be making her fourth appearance on the sketch show. You can watch Saturday Night Live hosted by Ayo Edebiri with musical guest Jennifer Lopez this Saturday, February 3 at 11:30 PM EST on NBC. It is also streaming on Peacock. Watch the promo video for this week’s episode below!
