Apple TV’s ‘Dark Matter’ adds ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Actress Amanda Brugel

Dark Matter has added actress Amanda Brugel, known for her role as Rita Blue in The Handmaid’s Tale, where she is set to play character Blaire, Daniella’s best friend, according to Deadline

Based on the acclaimed book written by Blake Crouch, the series follows physicist and professor Jason, played by Joel Edgerton (Boy Erased, The Great Gatsby), as he is abducted into an alternate version of his life, and quickly turns to nightmare when he tries to return to his reality amid the multiverse of lives he could have lived. American author Blake Crouch is known for writing novels such as Pines, Wayward, and, most recently, Upgrade

Brugel is seen in season five of The Handmaid’s Tale as her recurring character Rita Blue, and has also joined the cast of HBO Max’s sitcom Sort Of, via Deadline. Alongside Brugel and Edgerton, the cast of Dark Matter includes Jennifer Conelly (A Beautiful Mind, Snowpiercer), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld, Black Mirror), Alice Braga (I Am Legend, Predators), Oakes Fegley (Wonderstuck, Pete’s Dragon), and Dayo Okeniyi (Rise, Emperor). 

Dark Matter is set to premiere in 2023 on Apple TV+.
