According to ScreenRant, an Apple TV Executive gives positive update on the fifth season of Ted Lasso. With the fourth season set to air next month, serving as a sorta semi-reboot for the series fans are wondering what will happen after this upcoming season.
As per ScreenRant, during an interview with Deadline Matt Cherniss confirmed that Ted Lasso will return for a fifth season saying that Jason Sudeikis (We’re the Millers, Horrible Bosses), who also serves as a co-creator, showrunner, head writer, and executive producer, is “looking to jump into the next season soon.”
During the interview, Cherniss said, “Jason Sudeikis is still hard at work on season four, and I know he’s looking to jump into the next season soon, but to my knowledge, I don’t think we’ve gotten started on it yet.”
ScreenRant reports that in an interview, he discussed Apple TV’s record 87 Emmy nominations for Pluribus, Widow’s Bay, Margot’s Got Money Troubles, Slow Horses, Shrinking, and Your Friends and Neighbors. Cherniss also looked ahead to having Ted Lasso back for next year’s Emmys.
“It’s great, I feel like we have the best comedy brand in the business, and to be able to go from a season with Shrinking and Widow’s Bay and Margot’s Got Money Troubles to next year with Ted Lasso and The Studio coming back. We’re in a really good place as a service. We feel really, really confident about our slate, and the shows, and we’re excited that the audience is coming along for the ride,” said Cherniss via ScreenRant.
Ted Lasso follows an American college football coach with the same name played by Sudeikis . He is hired as the coach of an English soccer team whose owner secretly hopes his inexperience will lead it to failure. Sudeikis serves as the show’s head writer and co-creator alongside Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Bad Monkey), Brendan Hunt (Bless This Mess, Key and Peele) and Joe Kelly (How I Met Your Mother, Detroiters).
Ted Lasso is available to stream on Apple TV.
