Anime Expo: Disney Renews Anime-Inspired Series ‘Dragon Striker’ For A Second Season

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney renews anime-inspired series Dragon Striker for second season. The news of the renewal was shared during Thursday’s Anime Expo in Los Angeles during the sports fantasy series’ panel.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the official logline for the series is as follows: “In a world where sports and magic combine, farm boy Key discovers his ultra-powerful natural talent and learns he could be the legendary Dragon Striker. Set at Kal Asterock, an elite school for students who wield a magical energy called Tama, Key joins goalkeeper Ssyelle on a scrappy new team to challenge the school champions. As he struggles with the raging dragon inside him and Ssyelle fights to hold her team together, they learn dark secrets of the past and uncover an ancient evil.”

The voice cast for the series includes Akshay Kumar (Welcome to the Jungle, Jolly LLB 3) as Key,  Rebecca LaChance (The First Descendant, Wuthering Waves) as Ssyelle, Yeukayi Ushe (Elden Ring, Stan Can) as Milo, Waylon Jacobs (The Barn Presents, March On) as Odward, Evanna Lynch (My Name Is Emily, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)  as Ameline, Joshua Collins (Against the Law, What’s Love Got to Do with It?) as Ragno, Díana Bermudez (Moon Knight, The Ark) as Callista and many others.

As per The Hollywood Reporter,  the report states that in the second season, “the Knights face broken friendships, buried secrets and ancient evil as they fight to reach the Banner’s Helm final and risk everything for victory.” The second season will debut in early 2027 across Disney+ and Disney XD.

Kevin Penkin (Made in Abyss, Star Wars: Visions) is the composer for the series, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The score was recorded in Japan with an 80-piece orchestra. The theme song, “Power of the Dragon,” was written and produced by Cash Callaway and performed by Sarah West (Daily Bread, Life in 5). The end credits song, “The Very End,” was written and performed by Kieran Rhodes (America’s Got Talent).

All episodes of the first season are now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
