Deadline writes that Jesse Garcia (Flamin’ Hot, Narcos: Mexico) joins American Blue from HBO Max. Garcia is said to play Kevin Martinez, nicknamed ‘Kmart’ respectfully who is a detective that has PTSD and is unable to cope day to day, and only seems to get worse.
According to Deadline, the cast that has been announced as of now is Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Dad!, The Beauty), Jess Gabor (School Spirits, Christy), Kelly Jenrette (Grey’s Anatomy, Circle Round), Onye Eme-Akwari (The Good Doctor, First Shift), Milo Ventimiglia (I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario, I Can Only Imagine 2), and Carlito Olivero (The Lincoln Lawyer, Wonder Man). Jeremy Carver (Dead Boy Detectives, Doom Patrol) will serve as the showrunner and executive producer of the series, along with Brian Udovich (We’re All Gonna Die, Only the Good Survive), Neil Reynolds (The ‘Burbs, You), and David Ayer (A Working Man, Bosco).
Deadline notes that the one-hour drama pilot American Blue which shows native son Brian “Milk” Milkovich (Ventimiglia), who visits his hometown Joliet, IL, to help out an overwhelmed police force while seeking to end the suffering of his own. This new pilot that HBO Max dropped hails from Jeremy Carver (Supernatural) and Warner Bros Television in which Carver is under an overall deal. David Ayer (Training Day, The Fast and the Furious) is also responsible to direct the pilot. Carver writes as well as produces beside Brian Udovich (Bad Turn Worse, We’re All Gonna Die), Neil Reynolds (You, The Vampire Diaries) and Ayer. Ventimiglia co-executive produces the pilot as well as the show, and does so with a partner that he did many times with, Russ Cundiff (Chosen, Ultradome), who will produce the pilot as well as the show. Warner Bros Television is the studio who takes credit for and will produce the one-hour drama pilot.
