AMC Renews ‘Ride with Norman Reedus’ Starring Fan Favorite from ‘The Walking Dead’

AMC recently announced that it has renewed Ride with Norman Reedus, for a second season, Broadway World reports. The docuseries features the actor who portrays Daryl in the popular zombie series: The Walking Dead. The second season is expected to debut sometime in 2017 and will consist of six one-hour episodes. In the show, Reedus (along with his motorcycle) travels to some pretty awesome places and samples local cultures. The travel enthusiast takes viewers out to the open road to explore more of the world with him.

In season one, some of the guests featured were actor Balthazar Getty, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, Mastodon singer/guitarist Brent Hinds, artist Jake Lamagno, custom bike builder Jason Paul Michaels, and artist/biker Imogen Lehtonen. Some of the areas the Reedus traveled to included Death Valley, the Pacific Coast Highway, Appalachia, Louisiana, Texas, and the Florida Keys. Additionally, Reedus and his guests made sure to try out some of the local foods on their travels and even went dune-buggying, rode the bike of the future, visited a moonshine distillery, met with a high voodoo priestess, and raced porta-potties.

During the season finale, Peter Fonda made an appearance which Reedus in particular loved because Fonda’s role in Easy Rider inspired Reedus to start riding motorcycles. The first season of Ride with Norman Reedus comprised of six episodes and averaged 800k total viewers per episode including 434k adults 25-54 Nielsen live+7 ratings. Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV stated “We’re so excited to continue this journey with Norman Reedus. Norman’s love of motorcycles and adventure, and his ability to connect with people are the drivers of this series, and we look forward to more great Rides next season.”

Reedus added “The reaction to Ride has been incredibly positive. I am glad to be able to show audiences a different side of me and we have gotten a great response to the candid conversation and the fact that it’s obviously not scripted. I feel like we are just getting started and there are so many amazing places we have yet to go – the opportunities for the show are endless.”

Ride with Norman Reedus is produced by Left/Right Productions and is executive produced by Reedus, Ken Druckerman, Banks Tarver, Anneka Jones (This American Life, The Circus: Inside The Greatest Political Show On Earth, Odd Mom Out). The show is produced by Left/Right Productions
