AMC Greenlights Family Comedy Happy Jack Starring Charlie and Martin Sheen

AMC is keeping things in the family with its new series Happy Jack starring real-life father-son duo Charlie Sheen (Two and a Half Men, Platoon) and Martin Sheen (Apocalypse Now, The West Wing). In a press release on Tuesday, AMC confirmed Happy Jack was greenlit and shared more details about the series and its production.

Happy Jack will begin production in early 2027 to ultimately have a premiere date sometime later that year. The first season of the family comedy series will have six half-hour episodes.

AMC released the official synopsis for the series, which reads: “Charlie Sheen plays Jack, a bit of a lifelong ne’er-do-well. He’s got two great daughters (though his Dad, played by Martin Sheen, deserves more credit for how they turned out). Kate runs Jack’s company and keeps him on the rails while Sam is a wild child who is more like her Dad. When Sam comes home to introduce everyone to her new boyfriend, Jack’s shocked to learn Paul, a former investment banker turned van life guru, is the same age as he is. Shocked at first (hypocrisy be damned), Jack soon realizes he’s got a choice to make. Will he keep looking out for number one, or embrace this last chance to be a real part of his daughters’ lives?”

AMC Studios president and chief content officer, Dan McDermott, shared his excitement for the series, stating, “This is definitely something new for AMC, and we can’t wait to bring it to viewers next year.”

Charlie Sheen also spoke about the series marking his return to television after a long hiatus, saying, “I’m thrilled to be going back on television in such a meaningful way in an equally wonderful show.”

Jim Patterson (Shifting Gears, Call Me Kat) and Matt Ross (Death by Lightning, Gaslit) serve as writers, executive producers, and showrunners for Happy Jack. Charlie Sheen is also an executive producer, alongside Todd Christopher (Special Unit, Christopher Titus: Zero Side Effects), The Tannenbaum Company, and 20th Television.
