Amazon’s The Boys just added two new cast members— Goran Visnjic and Claudia Doumit— to their cast roster and have confirmed each actor will star as recurring character during Season 2 of the comic book adapted series. Ironically before, Visnjic and Doumit played time-travelers Garcia Flynn and Jiya, in the NBC drama, Timeless, which The Boys executive producer, Eric Kripke, also worked on.
Numerous actors on the Amazon Prime produced series have also made guest appearances on the aforementioned NBC drama such as: Malcolm Barrett (Timeless‘ Rufus) who played Season 1′ Vought’s International Public Relations writer Seth Reed. Actress Shantel VanSanten made an appearance as Billy Butcher’s wife Becca and also guest-starred in the Timeless pilot.
The Boys second season will see Visnjic take on the role of Alistair Adana, “the charismatic and shadowy leader of a mysterious church.” Meanwhile, Doumit has been cast as a wunderkind congresswoman Victoria Neuman, with Barrett given a confirmation for his return; You’re the Worst‘s Aya Cash will also play the newly introduced superhero, Stormfront.
In a bold move earlier this year, the streaming service renewed the series for a Season 2 ahead of its official July 26th Season 1 premiere date— a strong indication of the show’s increasing popularity and the amount of faith Amazon has placed in the series’ future viewership performance. Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book of the same name, the series is set in a fictional universe where the public is surrounded by super-powered heroes who are organized by a powerful and corrupt corporation named Vought International.
Despite the veneer of their heroic personas, each member of the Seven struggles with their own personal demons just as much as the titular Boys— a reformed group of vigilantes who want to take down Vought International and reveal the Seven’s real personalities. Led by Billy Butcher, conflict ensues between the two groups, as the series simultaneously follows the new members of each team: Hugh “Hughie” Campbell and Annie January (Starlight).
