Hailee Steinfeld Is a Possible Lead as Kate Bishop in Disney+’s ‘Hawkeye’ Series

Disney+’s Hawkeye might have found its leading star in Hailee Steinfeld – a sought out actress in Hollywood. Based on the Hawkeye comics, the story follows Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) as he trains a young female archer, Kate Bishop – who is a part of the Young Avengers team first introduced in 2005’s Young Avengers #1. An iconic moment in the comics, Baton passes over the responsibility of Hawkeye to Bishop. The journey on-screen will be just as much as a payoff.

“What I get to do in the show ultimately is shepherd an amazing character, ultimately a better version of me and the sentiment of that is the fiber of what Hawkeye is, at least what I think Hawkeye is – a superhero without superpowers and I get to teach someone else to be a superhero without superpowers,” explained Renner.

Hailee Steinfeld is no stranger to the superhero world. She played the role of Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The film was considered a success with its smashing box office numbers and went on to win an Oscar for the best animated feature.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will continue to tell stories from the big screen to the smaller screens, and vice versa. The Marvel TV shows on Disney+ will allow for the MCU to expand. “At Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige — who is shepherding this amazing tentpole theatrical Marvel Cinematic Universe — he is the same person behind all the Marvel Studios series that will be on Disney+, so he’s bringing in great storytellers, directors, producers, and writers for these series,” Chu said. “It’s a way in which we can access new talent as well as leverage the great storytelling that already exists.”

Jonathan Igla (Mad Men) sits in as executive producer and series writer for the show. Hawkeye is set to premiere in Fall 2021 on Disney+.
