Amazon Prime Releases Trailer for Four-Part Docuseries ‘The Last Narc’

On Monday, Amazon Prime revealed the trailer for The Last Narc new docuseries. While he was undercover to take down the Mexican cartel, DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena was kidnapped and murdered in 1985, making it the most infamous murder of the department. Available in more than 200 countries, the show will premiere on May 15.

The docuseries mainly centers on Special agent Hector Berrellez’s testimony. Tasked to investigate Camarena’s fate, the special agent will run between Mexico and Washington, D.C to uncover the morbid truth behind Camarena’s death and torture. The show also features interviews with Camarena’s widow and three Guadalajara Cartel insiders who used to be corrupt Jalisco State policemen. They were protecting drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero and Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo in the 1980s, but they eventually collaborated with Berrellez to understand what really happened to Camarena.

Executive produced by Eli Holzmann and Aaron Saidman, The Last Narc is a co-production between Amazon Studios and Industrial Media’s The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC). Camarena’s tragic story was already covered in Netflix Narcos: Mexico and interpreted by Michael Peña (Ant-Man and the Wasp), but The Last Narc director Tiller Russel asked not to compare the two interpretations.

“This is a different undertaking”, Russell told IndieWire. “This is a very well-known, well-publicized case and what we’re contributing to it is astonishing true revelations that people have been wondering about for a very long time”

The Last Narc will premiere on May 15 exclusively on Prime Video. Check the trailer down below for more:
