Amazon Casts 20 Additional Roles for ‘Lord of The Rings’ Series

Amazon has recently added 20 more actors to its roster its Lord of The Rings Series. The cast members joining the team are as follows. “Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Maxim Baldry, Ian Blackburn, Kip Chapman, Anthony Crum, Maxine Cunliffe, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Thusitha Jayasundera, Fabian McCallum, Simon Merrells, Geoff Morrell, Peter Mullan, Lloyd Owen, Augustus Prew, Peter Tait, Alex Tarrant, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, and Sara Zwangobani,” as reported by Variety.

With a cast of established actors from Game of Thrones like Robert Aramayo (Young Ned, Game of Thrones) and Joseph Mawle (Benjen Stark, Game of Thrones), audiences have already seen what these actors are capable of in a high budget fantasy. Considering the in-depth character development that the LOTR series has previously delivered its fans, viewers can expect to delve into the characters lore once more.

Three years ago, in November 2017 Amazon originally announced its plan of making an original series based off of the extremely successful franchise known throughout the world thanks to the late J.R.R Tolkien and the adaptor of his works Director Peter Jackson (Director, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.) Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, production on Amazon’s Lord of The Rings was halted, “One key update: on March 17 Amazon Prime Video announced that it was closing production on the series in New Zealand in response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” according to Indiewire. This forestallment happened only a month after shooting.

After resuming production in July, the show is on its way to air in 2021. With the success of both The Lord of The Rings trilogy and The Hobbit Trilogy, this series has some big shoes to fill. Also taking into consideration Amazon’s success with another adaptation they created called The Boys and given the cast that this show already has, fans can rest easy knowing their beloved universe is in experienced hands.
