Disney+ Announces Florence Pugh, Vera Farmiga, and More Cast For Marvel’s ‘Hawkeye’

Hawkeye, the upcoming television addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has announced additional cast members including the likes of Florence Pugh (Midsommar) and Vera Farmiga (The Departed, The Conjuring), according to Variety. In addition to Pugh and Farmiga, Zahn McClarnon (Barkskins, Fargo), Alaqua Cox, Fra Fee (Les Misérables), and Tony Dalton (Better Call Saul) have also been announced to join the cast of the upcoming Disney+ and Marvel superhero series. This news follows the leaked footage of Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee, Pitch Perfect 2) on set alongside titular star Jeremy Renner (The Town, Wind River).

Hawkeye is an upcoming Disney+ series that will follow the events of Clint Barton, or Hawkeye, after the event of Avengers: Infinity War. Renner will reprise his role as Barton/Hawkeye while Steinfeld appears to be portraying the role of his trainee, Kate Bishop, in the leaked footage. Farmiga will portray Steinfeld’s character mother in Eleanor Bishop. This marks the actress’s return to television following her main role on A&E’s Bates Motel, which ended in 2017, and her guest role on the Netflix miniseries, When They See Us

Pugh will reprise her Marvel character, the assassin Yelena Belova, who happens to be the sister of Black Widow, portrayed by Scarlett Johansson (Jojo Rabbit). Set to portray the character in the Black Widow film in May 2021, this will act as another appearance for Pugh into the MCU. Mostly known for film appearances in Little Women, Midsommar, Fighting with My Family, the actress has made appearances for television in the mini-series The Little Drummer Girl and as Cordelia in a television movie of King Lear

The other announced cast features Cox as Maya Lopez/Echo and McClarnon as Maya’s father William Lopez. Additionally, Dalton will portray Jack Duquesne, a former mentor to Barton, as well as Fee portraying the character Kazi.

Currently, the series is under the supervision of its creator Jonathan Igla (Mad Men) as he serves as a writer and executive producer. Currently, the series is in the production process for its first season but does not have an exact premiere date. Hawkeye is expected to be released sometime in 2021.
