Adria Arjona Set To Star Besides Diego Luna in Upcoming ‘Rogue One’ Spinoff Series for Disney +

Lucasfilm announced today that Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim: Uprising, 6 Underground) will be cast opposite of Diego Luna (Y Tu Mama Tambien) in the upcoming production for the Rogue One spinoff series coming to Disney plus, as confirmed by Deadline. This is the latest news from the series since Lucasfilms first announced last year that Luna would be reprising his role as Cassian Andor, with Alan Tudyk (Firefly) returning as his droid sidekick, K-2SO.

While little is known about the details surrounding the plot, the untitled show will act as a prequel to Rogue One, focusing on Andor’s early days in the Rebellion five years prior to the events that take place in the movie. Arjona and Luna are set to be joined by Tudyk, Denise Gough (’71, Robin Hood), Genevieve O’Reilly (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Stellan Skarsgard (Good Will Hunting, Mama Mia) and Kyle Soller (Fury, Anna Karenina). Filming and production for the series was originally set to begin sometime this year but was unfortunately delayed due to ongoing complications caused by the events of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton), who also co-wrote for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will be responsible for co-writing, directing, and showrunning on the series. He will be working closely with writers Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler), Beau Willimon (House of Cards), and Stephen Schiff (The American).

Arjona previous works include her role as Dorothy Gale in NBC’s Emerald City. She can also be seen in Amazon’s Good Omens, the miniseries based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel of the same name, as Anathema Device. Her first blockbuster movie breakthrough came in the form of Pacific Rim: Uprising, where she starred as Jules Reyes next to Star Wars alumni John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awaken). Arjona will star in Morbius as Martine Bancroft next year in 2021.
