NBC has picked up a script for a semi-autobiographical comedy from Adam Levine, The Hollywood Reporter explains.
The project from the Maroon 5 singer is based on his relationship with writer-producer Gene Hong. The two were former roommates before either one found success in Hollywood. Hong will pen the script and executive produce alongside Levine and his longtime manager/producing partner Jordan Feldstein.
The comedy is not the first effort from Levine and Hong, who previously joined on an NBC half-hour set at a karaoke bar that did not move forward in 2011.
Levine is the second Voice coach to develop a semi-autobiographical comedy for the nextwork, following Cee Lo Green’s comedy based on his life as a producer and recording artist. Green’s project did not move forward with NBC.
Adam Levine is repped by CAA.
