Actress Molly Burnett Exits ‘Law & Order: SVU’ After One Season

It is time to say goodbye to Detective Muncy. According to Deadline, actress Molly Burnett (Days of Our Lives, Queen of the South) is leaving NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit where she played Detective Grace Muncy. Burnett was only a part of the regular cast of the show for a season before deciding to exit the show.

According to Deadline, she joined the show in July and appeared for the first time as detective Muncy in the second episode of season twenty-four titled “The One You Feed.” Her last episode was the season finale crossover with Law & Order: Organized Crime

Burnett is only the latest to leave the show during season twenty-four. Kelli Giddish (All My Children, Chase) announced her exit from the show in August only appearing in the first nine episodes of season twenty-four. Giddish reprised her role as Amanda Rollins in the season finale crossover, revealing her character is pregnant.

During the season finale, Muncy’s departure from the show was revealed, but it wasn’t until later that other sources revealed Burnett was leaving the show. Her exit opens a space in the cast and many believe Giddish as Rollins could fill that spot. Watch the emotional goodbye of Detective Muncy below.

The show’s regular cast members include Mariska Hargitay (Lake Placid, Leaving Las Vegas) as Detective Olivia Benson; Christopher Meloni (Harley Quinn, Happy!) as Detective Elliot Stabler; Ice-T (New Jack City, Surviving the Game) as Detective Odafin “Fin” Tutuola; Peter Scanavino (The Brief Tragedy of Ernest Carter, Mutual Friends) as Detective Dominick “Sonny” Carisi Jr.; and Octavio Pisano (Presence, Coyote) as Detective Joe Velasco. Throughout twenty-four seasons, most of the regular cast has appeared in more than 200 episodes, with Hargitay appearing in 538 episodes and counting.

Law & Order: SVU has been on the air for almost twenty-five years and it follows Detective Olivia Benson and her team, a specially trained squad of detectives in the New York City Police Department, as they solve sexually related crimes.

All episodes of Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime are available to stream on ABC, Hulu, and Peacock.
