

Major news has arisen surrounding the development of the upcoming Harry Potter reboot series. According to mxdwn, HBO has solidified the casting for John Lithgow (Shrek, Dexter) as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer (Kaos, Ozark) as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu (The Lazarus Project, Genie) as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Into the Badlands) as Rubeus Hagrid within the reboot. The channel has added two more members for the series, which will be Luke Thallon (The Favorite, Present Laughter), who will play the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse (Ghost Stories, The Fast Show) as the grouchy caretaker, Argus Filch.
According to Warner Bros, executive producer Francesca Gardiner (Sucession, His Dark Materials), excitedly stated about the series: “We are happy to announce the casting of John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, Nick Frost, Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse to play Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, Hagrid, Quirrell and Filch. We’re delighted to have such extraordinary talent onboard, and we can’t wait to see them bring these beloved characters to new life.”
There is currently no information on who will be playing the series main trio, which consists of Harry, Hermione and Ron, or even Harry’s rival, Draco. According to mxdwn post, Tom Felton (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Flash), who played Draco in the films, has given his excitement about the new generation that will portray the characters and given his insight.The series also has already been ordered for multiple seasons, which could span across several books, from The Chamber of Secrets to the Prisoner of Azkaban.
This new rendition of the popular franchise will surely draw in new viewers while at the same time being an enjoyable experience for existing fans. There are currently no details on the exact release date for the Harry Potter reboot, but it has been speculated that production will start sometime in summer 2025.
