TVLine reports that Ramón Rodríguez (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Gang Related) returns as Will Trent for season 5. Season 5 was announced while season 4 is still running but will end May 5.
According to TVLine, the show is based on the Karin Slaughter’s (The Good Daughter, We Are All Guilty Here: A Novel) novels that star Trent the crime solver. The tagline for the show is that Trent was “abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system” not to mention that Trent has a very creative point of view in order to solve crimes.
TVLine notes that Rodriguez is the producer of Will Trent, but he is joined by a huge cast. The cast is Erika Christensen (Swimfan,Traffic) who plays Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson (Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, Benny Got Shot) who plays Faith Mitchell, Jake McLaughlin (Black Diamond, Home) who plays Michael Ormewood, Sonja Sohn (High Flying Bird, Big George Foreman) who plays Amanda Wagner, Kevin Daniels (The Big Leap, Not another Church Movie) who plays Franklin Wilks, and Bluebell the Chihuahua as Will’s sweater wearing, canine companion Betty. Other cast include Scott Foley (It’s Not Like That, Scream 3) who plays Angie’s husband, Dr. Seth McDale, and Cora Lu Tran (The Family, ICarly) as pet sitter Nico.
Will Trent is in the television schedule of ABC renewals for the 2026-27 television season. The network has also add other shows like 9-1-1 for season 10, 9-1-1, Nashville for Season 2, Abbott Elementary f or Season 6, Grey’s Anatomy for Season 23, High Potential for Season 3, and The Rookie for Season 9. Older seasons of the shows mentioned earlier can also be seen on ABC.
