ABC has added a host of new dramas to its pilot list. OJ Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark is contributing a law thriller while GMA host Robin Roberts will serve as EP for a police drama. There are three additional requests on the table as well.
The Fix follows Maya Tavis, a former prosecutor who flees to Oregon after losing a career breaking case. Years later, the murderer resurfaces sending Tavis back into the thick. The series follows the fictional case from various legal viewpoints demonstrating how cases affect the parties professionally and personally. Clark takes a page from her own experience after the fallout from the OJ Simpson trial where she was publicly ridiculed for her part in his innocent outcome.
Robin Roberts’ project includes Pam Veasey (CSI: NY) and Regina King (The Leftovers). The TBD titled project follows the lives of five female NYPD police officers as they navigate the terrain of putting their lives on the line daily while keeping the home lives in balance. According to Deadline, the officers are all siblings and based on the true story of the Holmes sisters.
Continuing with the law enforcement vibe, Jason Richman will front Safe Harbor set on the streets of Los Angeles as it follows the ups/downs of officers. Staties focuses on a former hard-core NYPD detective who moves to Oregon and is paired with an unconventional state trooper. The pair will struggle to find a common ground with their strange idiosyncrasies.
Finally, A Million Little Things, starring Jon Cryer brings together a group of eight friends looking for a new lease on life after the unexpected death of one of their own. In the manner of The Big Chill, writer DJ Nash pulled from personal experience to pen the dramedy. “It’s an optimistic look at how the loss of a friend is the impetus for the other seven to finally start living, to make a promise to him and to themselves to finally be honest about what’s really going on,” Nash said, “I know in my own life, my friend’s passing is a constant reminder to keep things in perspective.”
The alphabet network has been on a roll with ordering pilots including False Profits and comedy from Tim Doyle.
