HBO has reignited the flames of excitement with the release of the next chapter of the Targaryen civil war with a trailer release of the House of the Dragon season three. The finale of the previous saw both sides preparing for war, but a truce was created with Rhaenyra, played by Emma ‘d arcy (Truth Seekers, Wanderlust) and Alicent, played Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One, Pixie). On the other hand, Daemon, played by Matt Smith (Doctor Who, Morbius) was showed prophetic visions, which furthers the connection towards Game of Thrones.
The trailer opens up with Rhaenyra and her dragon riders have taken back King’s Landing, forcing Alicent, Aemond played by Ewan Mitchell (Saltburn, Wuthering Heights), and the rest of the family to flee. This victory is brief though, as many of citizens, as well as Rhaenyra’s council believe that she is not quite fit to take the iron throne. This further spirals Rhaenyra’s character, as she becomes paranoid and believe that there is conspiracy against her.
It would seem Aemond will become more dangerous then he already was, leading to a battlefield to be covered in blood and dragon fire.Season three is shaping up to be the action-packed, large-scale warfare experience that fans have been eagerly anticipating. A major event of the series that the audience is excited to see is the Battle of the Gullet, which is the most brutal naval battle in Westeros history. From the sweeping dragon battles to the intimate, emotional character moments, the trailer’s visual aesthetics clearly demonstrate that the stakes are higher than they have ever been
The third season is set to land on June 21, while audience await on its premiere all previous seasons of House of the Dragons are avaiable to stream on HBO Max. If the trailer is any indication, the approaching battle is about to become bloodier and more devatsted then it was in the past.
