2023 Fall Lineup on NBC is Rearranged

Starting October 4, NBC’s Wednesday lineup will be shuffled. Kicking off the shuffle will be Quantum Leap at 8pm, followed at 9pm by Magnum P.I., and at 10pm Chicago encores. This order has been rearranged from the previous order of Chicago encores at 8pm, Quantum Leap at 9pm, followed by Magnum P.I. at 10pm. According to Deadline, “The network will have a slew of original scripted dramas on the air in the fall as part of a slightly revised schedule thanks to some forward planning.”

This change comes as rivals to NBC have segued into unscripted television for their fall schedules due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. CBS is building up its competition series such as The Amazing Race, Buddy Games, and The Challenge: USA, ABC will bank on its reality content such as Golden Bachelor, Celebrity Jeopardy!, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, and $100,000 Pyramid,  and FOX will continue with its animated series and non-scripted television such as Kitchen Nightmares, The Masked Singer, Family Guy, and Bob’s Burgers

New series will be joining NBC this fall, including Found, The Irrational, and Canadian medical drama Transplant. Via Deadline, “Found was originally planned for midseason in the 2022/23 season and was set to premiere in February but was moved by Susan Rovner in January.” The Irrational will air September 25, in the previously announced slot at 10pm, after The Voice. Between 8pm and 10pm on Tuesdays, The Voice will air on NBC, followed by the new series Found. Found was originally to air after Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU  on Thursdays at 10pm.  Law & Order: SVU’s original 9pm slot on Thursdays after Law & Order will now go to Transplant, followed by Dateline. According to Deadline, “Night Court, Extended Family, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU will return when they can.”

NBC is not the only network to make adjustments to their airing lineup as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue into the kickoff of fall programming.
