According to ScreenRant, Netflix has just revealed the trailer for The Chosen One, which is scheduled to premiere on the streaming site on August 16th. The series will be an adaptation of Mark Millar’s (Kick-Ass) American Jesus, which sets up a modern biblical tale—originally released in 2004 as a comic under the name Chosen from writer Millar and illustrator Peter Gross (Lucifer: Morningstar). The series was originally announced back in 2018, and this summer will finally be hitting Netflix.
The trailer for the series is down below.
According to ScreenRant, the story of the series follows a 12-year-old boy named Jodie, who discovers that he has returned as Jesus Christ as he turns water into wine and is able to heal people. Although he has these abilities, his true destiny is leading the world through a conflict that has been building up for more than thousands of years. While discovering his abilities and destiny, everything gets turned upside down.
The Chosen One is based on a comic series with the same name. It is the latest installment of Millarworld adaptations to hit Netflix, following Jupiter’s Legacy and Super Crooks, while another series, The Magic Order, is still in development, and it will join the rest of Millar’s creations. The Netflix original will have Everardo Valerio Gout (The Forever Purge), and Leopoldo Gout (The Postcard Killings) will be serving as co-showrunner for the series.
Cast for the series include newcomer Bobby Luhnow, Dianna Agron (I Am Number Four), Tenoch Huerta (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Carlos Bardem (Scorpion in Love), Alfonso Dosal (One Small Problem), Sofia Sisniega (Compulsion) and many more.
Millar is also working on bringing different works to the screen, such as Reborn, Empress, Huck, Shaky, The Bounty Hunter, and Prodigy.
