Review: ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ Season 1, Episode 6 “Grudge Match”

Episode 6 begins in a dreamlike world where a giant Margo, embodying her HungryGhost persona, approaches a tiny movie theater. Addressing the audience inside, she announces that she now lives inside their phones. The scene then cuts back to reality during the holiday season, where an ordinary Margo updates her OnlyFans bio. Later, she explains to Susie that if she wants to grow her OnlyFans audience and increase her visibility, she needs to branch out onto more G-rated platforms like TikTok. She asks Susie to help her make the transition, and Susie eagerly agrees.

The following day, Margo brings Susie, Jinx, and Bodhi to KC and Rose’s apartment. She introduces Susie as the person in charge of costumes, props, set design, and overall creative direction, while Jinx will handle the choreography for the fight scenes and stunts. Margo then explains the concept behind HungryGhost: an alien who has just arrived on Earth, naive, innocent, and childlike in mindset. Meanwhile, Shyanne and Kenny are enjoying their honeymoon. While Kenny swims in the pool, Shyanne relaxes on a lounge chair with a book. He asks whether the wedding turned out alright, and she assures him it was wonderful. Kenny promises that he’ll make an effort to become part of her family. Shyanne responds to this warmly, though uncertainty subtly lingers beneath.

Margo, KC, and Rose get ready to shoot their first TikTok video together. As Jinx walks everyone through the fight choreography, Susie paints Margo green with body paint to complete the HungryGhost look. They then film a sketch in which HungryGhost crash-lands on Earth in her UFO and wanders into KC and Rose’s apartment. Encountering human food for the first time, the alien eagerly eats chips before vomiting all over KC and Rose. The video ends with a link directing viewers to Margo’s OnlyFans.

Later, Margo proudly shows the finished video to Jinx and Susie, and the group watches it excitedly. Their celebration is interrupted by a knock at the door when a man arrives to serve Jinx legal papers—Mark has filed a restraining order against him. Jinx then tells Margo about the altercation months prior that resulted in Mark’s hand being broken. Jinx visits Lace at her law office and explains the situation he’s dealing with. He admits that he’s been repeatedly calling Mark since the incident. Sensing there’s something deeper troubling him, Lace asks what’s really going on. Jinx opens up about Shyanne getting married in Vegas and confesses that he’s been constantly worried about Margo. Lace reassures him that things will work out.

A few days later, one of Margo’s most recent TikToks—featuring her HungryGhost persona dancing alongside KC and Rose—explodes online and goes massively viral with 1.9 million likes. Fans begin uploading their own videos recreating the choreography. Susie excitedly shows the viral clip to Jinx while Margo gets ready to attend a New Year’s Eve party with her friend Becca. She explains that Becca recently reached out to apologize for what had happened before.

Margo and Becca arrive at the party and start dancing together. But the mood quickly shifts when two guys at the party recognize Margo as her HungryGhost persona. While in the bathroom, Margo is bombarded with messages on OnlyFans from users implying they know she’s at the party. One of them even sends her a photo of herself dancing there. Panicked, she frantically texts Jinx, begging him to come pick her up. When she steps out of the bathroom, Becca immediately confronts her, demanding to know if she’s doing porn. Margo snaps back that she doesn’t owe her an explanation, and the conversation quickly erupts into a heated argument. Soon after, Jinx arrives to take Margo home. During the drive, he tells her that even Shyanne has called, and suggests they talk to her in the morning. Later that night, Margo logs into Instagram and discovers that her personal account has been leaked online. She reads all the hate comments.

The next morning, Margo and Jinx drive to Kenny’s house. In the kitchen, Shyanne tells Margo that the posts have spread all over her Facebook feed and that even her coworkers at Bloomingdale’s are aware of them. A short while later, Kenny walks in, and Margo decides to explain everything that’s been happening. In a sincere and emotional moment, Kenny tells her he’s sorry she’s going through this and promises he’ll do whatever he can to protect her. Hearing this, Shyanne becomes emotional and embraces him. Watching the exchange, Jinx quietly grows jealous. On the drive home, Jinx suddenly pulls the car over to the side of the road and steps outside to catch his breath.

The episode concludes with Mark in his office, the cast still on his arm, scrolling through his Facebook timeline and coming across lewd photos from Margo’s OnlyFans. His mother enters the room and urges him to act quickly. The scene then cuts to Margo being served legal papers at her doorstep. She opens the envelope to discover that Mark is seeking full custody, claiming she is an unfit mother.

Episode 6 of Margo’s Got Money Troubles explores the darker consequences of Margo’s choices as her life begins to unravel. Before things take a turn, it’s interesting to note that her work on OnlyFans still reflects her creative drive as a writer, with Margo continually expanding ideas for the HungryGhost universe. Everything seems to be going well until her identity is exposed, and her efforts begin to backfire in real time. Elle Fanning delivers a strong performance as Margo, capturing both the highs and lows of her journey as she navigates the world of OnlyFans. Now, with Bodhi—her original reason for joining the platform—at risk, viewers are left anticipating how the custody battle will unfold in the next episode.
