‘You’ Season Three Set For October Debut

Netflix’s You will debut its third season on October 15, according to VarietyThe psychological thriller starring Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl) debuted its first season in 2018 and follows Joe Goldberg (Badgley), a bookstore manager who develops a crush on an aspiring writer, which quickly turns sinister when he begins using social media to grow closer to her, shutting down any obstacle that stands in his way.

The series took a turn in season two with the arrival of a new love interest, aptly named Love Quinn, played by Victoria Pedretti (The Haunting of Hill House). After Joe attempts to escape his destructive past in Los Angeles by adopting a new identity, he ironically meets his match in Love, falling in love with someone equally psychotic and impulsive. The season ends with the duo expecting a child and Joe developing an interest in the woman next door to their new home in the northern California suburb of Madre Linda.

Love and Joe’s relationships will grow more complex in the upcoming season because of how similar they both are. Based on the books You and Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes, the series will shift in a different direction from the books in its third season because Kepnes’ third book, You Love Me, was published in April when the You writers had already planned the season’s storyline.

You stars Saffron Burrows (Deep Blue Sea), Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Dylan Arnold (After), Shalita Grant (Search Party), Travis Van Winkle (Christmas Getaway), and Scott Speedman (Underworld: Evolution). The season three release date was announced by Netflix this week via a premiere date teaser that can be watched below.
