Wonder Woman Becomes President As Lynda Carter Joins ‘Supergirl’

A lot of new developments have occurred in a short amount of time in the Supergirl universe.

First, the series was released by CBS Studios and switched over to the hero dominate network, The CW, then the series started searching for an actor to play the role of Superman, and now the series has brought in superhero alum, Lynda Carter.

That’s right, Wonder Woman herself is joining the DC universe!

According to Deadline, Lynda Carter had been rumored to have been in talks with the network for awhile to join the cast. Earlier today, it was officially announced that Carter will be joining the show as the President of the United States later this year. (Sorry Hillary, looks like she beat you to the White House.)

However, Carter isn’t the first alum to join Supergirl. Carter will be joining Dean Cain (Lois and Clark), who plays Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) adoptive father and 1984’s Supergirl, Helen Slater, as her adoptive mother.

Playing the leader of the free world may seem intimidating to some but if she was able to pull off being Wonder Woman in the 70’s surely she is more than prepared to handle the responsibilities of a country today.

Since she hung up her tights, Carter has continued to act throughout the years. Most recently, she has had roles in the London West Side production of Chicago, where she played Matron Mama Morton. She has also had television appearances in a number of shows, including: Crazy Little Thing, Two and a Half Men, The Muppet Show, Partners in Crime and At Last.

This Fall, Carter will be joining a great cast of actors on Supergirl: Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Mehcad Brooks (James Olsen), Chyler Leigh (Alex Danvers), Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant), David Harewood (Hank Henshaw), Jeremy Jordan (Winslow “Winn” Schott), and newly caped Tyler Hoechlin (Superman).

If you missed the news about Hoechlin being cast as the new Clark Kent, you can read about it here in the article Mxdwn posted on the casting of Hoechlin earlier this month.

So, what do you think about all the changes happening in the Supergirl world? Are you excited about the new season?
