According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shane West is set to play male lead John Alden, in WGN America’s Salem.
West will portray a character that is handsome, sarcastic, tough, and sensible. He is a 10-year veteran of war and captivity at the hands of the Indians and returns to Salem in the midst of the witch-hunt frenzy, led by Cotton Mather (Seth Gabel).
Others among the cast are Tamzin Merchant, Janet Montgomery, and Xander Berkeley.
Salem is set in 17th century Massachusetts during the infamous witch trials. It will look into what caused the famed dark supernatural period in US history.
West is currently part of Nikita set to premiere its final season on November 22.
