Lockhart’s novel We Were Liars from Delacorte Press. The six take center stage as the plot delves into the mysterious Sinclair family’s backstory, adapted from the original novel’s prequel Family of Liars.

The 2025 first season of We Were Liars introduced audiences to Cadence “Cady” Sinclair Eastman (Emily Alyn Lind; Code Black, The Babysitter), eldest grandchild of the Sinclair patriarch Harris (David Morse; St. Elsewhere, House) and the child of his middle daughter Penny, as she encounters the true events of her missing Summer 15 at Beechwood that changed everything. Per the season two logline; In an effort to confront her truth, Cadence returns to Beechwood. As she digs deeper into the family secrets, she learns about the Sinclair sisters’ summer of 1999 – a summer rife with first love, rivalry, and even murder. In flashbacks, we see Carrie, Penny, and Bess navigate their own teenage summer, as they come to terms with their past in the present day.

Wolfe, Roorbach, List, Lapaine, and Dallas enter as a younger version of the season one Sinclairs – with Dallas and List as patriarch and matriarch Harris and Tipper Sinclair, followed by Lapaine, Roorbach, and Wolfe as their young daughters (respectively) Carrie, Penny, and Bess. In the first season, their roles were played by Candice King (Bess; The Vampire Diaries, Legacies), Caitlin Fitzgerald (Penny; Masters of Sex, Sweetbitter), Mammie Gummer (Carrie; The Good Wife, Ricki and the Flash), Wendy Crewson (Tipper; The Covenant, Room), and Morse as Harris. D’Angelo plays Pfeff, a new character from the prequel that plays a pivotal role in the Sinclair sisters’ storyline.

Cady (Lind) returns as the season’s narrator, alongside her cousin and fellow Liar Johnny Sinclair (Joseph Zada; The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping, The Speedway Murders). The two are joined by Ebon (Dempsey Bryk; Heartland, Willow), Bostonian boat boy and their late youngest cousin Mirren’s (Esther McGregor; High School, Babygirl) romantic involvement who has been promoted to series regular.

As detailed by Prime Video:

Charming, well-heeled, and dedicated to raising his daughters to honor the family name, Harris (Dallas) is a hard worker, a loyal husband, and stoic in the face of crisis. Despite already having command of a media empire, Harris often finds himself cast in the shadow of his even more charming – and far more reckless – older brother, the only person standing in the way of the future he envisions.

Dallas is repped by Untitled Entertainment, Verve, and Gender, Kelly & Cunningham. His notable credits include Ben Stone in Manifest, Prince Charming in Once Upon A Time, and Fandral in Marvel’s Thor, with additional appearances in Anthony Hemingway’s Red Tails, NBC’s The Hunting Party, and both of Disney’s animated hit Zootopia films.

The young matriarch of a Kennedy-esque dynasty, Tipper (List) can bake a perfect pie, host the hell out of a dinner party, and deftly pull the strings in her husband’s quest for more wealth and power. She’s always done it all with effortless grace and old-money elegance – but this year, a family crisis exposes her sharp edges, her icy temper, and her dirty little secrets.

List is repped by Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin & Dunham and Innovative Artists. Her credits include recurring appearances on Star Trek: Picard, ABC’s The Rookie, CW’s Charmed, USA’s Colony, and on Fox’s Gotham as Poison Ivy. Of her numerous credits, she has also recurred on the critically acclaimed AMC show Mad Men as Jane Sterling and on CW’s The Flash as Lisa Snart, AKA The Golden Glider. She has also held series regular roles on The CW’s Frequency and The Tomorrow People, and on ABC’s Flash Forward and Big Shots, with an appearance in recently released independent film Spinning Gold, directed by Tim Bogart.

In the summer of 1999, Carrie (Lapaine) is sensitive, quick-witted, and yearning to be loved. Ostensibly, she is the Harvard-bound, well-heeled, obedient eldest sister… until an intriguing new boy arrives on the island, and tempts her with a very different kind of future.

Repped by Hamilton Hodell and Atlas Artists, Lapaine starred in UK stage play Red Speedo and was in the second season’s final episode of hit HBO series House of the Dragons.

With a competitive streak a mile wide, Penny (Roorbach) is charming, popular, and a hopeless romantic – for now, anyway. She deftly hides her struggles with her body image and a burgeoning panic disorder hidden from everyone, until someone unexpected sees beyond her “Perfect Penny” mask.

With an extensive theater credit list straight out of her graduation, Roorbach is best known for her role as Honey in the South Coast Repertory production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf and a starring part in the world premiere of Las Aventuras de Juan Planchard. She has over a dozen short films under her belt, along with a recurring appearance in season two of Emmy Award winning HBO Max series The Pitt. She is repped by Schreck Rose Dapello & Adams and Realm Talent.

The summer she turns 16, Bess (Wolfe) dreams of being a songwriter, an adventurer, and most importantly… nothing like her mother. Desperate to fit in with the older kids, especially the three college-age boys who have unexpectedly moved into the guest house, Bess will do anything to impress them… including some things she’ll live to regret.

Wolfe is recognizable for her series roles in AMC’s Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, The Campaign, hit HBO series True Detective, and Netflix’s hit series The Hunting Wives. Film credits include The Conjuring 2, I Kill Giants, Joy, and Trumbo. She is represented by UTA and Untitled Entertainment.

A New England college kid with a mysterious edge, Pfeff (D’Angelo) is observant, soulful, and wounded in the most compelling way. When he shows up on Beechwood Island, he doesn’t really intend to upend the Sinclair sisters’ lives – but it’s an inevitability.

D’Angelo first gained traction with a debut on Australian series Neighbours, with further appearances in ABC’s Crazy Fun Park, The Deb, and Shiver. He’s set to appear in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of East of Eden (set for a fall premiere), and currently filming a hockey series with the network. He is represented by Shanahan Management, Jackoway Austen Tyerman, and Entertainment 360.

Season two of We Were Liars is written and executive produced by co-showrunners Carina Adly MacKenzie (The Originals, Roswell, New Mexico) and Julie Plec (Legacies, The Vampire Diaries). Other credited EPs include author E. Lockhart, Brett Matthews (Legacies, Scream), Marguerite MacIntyre (Vampire Academy, Little Fires Everywhere), and Emily Cummins (The Endgame, Vampire Academy). for My So-Called Company. The series is backed by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amazon MGM Studios.
