WarnerMedia Announces New HBO Asia Taiwanese Series

The DaMou Entertainment studio behind the six Golden Bell Awards-winning series The World Being Us is back on HBO Asia with a new original drama entitled Workers. HBO will upload it to HBO GO on from May 10 with the first two episodes immediately available. Starring Golden Bell-winning actor Christopher Lee (A Good Wife) and Alex Ko (Back to the Good Times), the Chinese series will feature six hour-long episodes picturing workers wishing to be rich. As they accumulate shady schemes to achieve wealth, their plans keep on failing but the workers remain optimistic and filled with humor.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show was filmed in a real construction site in Taiwan and produced in association with Kbro Media and HIM International Music, it was produced by Golden Bell-winning producer Lin Yu-Ling (The World Between Us), directed by Cheng Fen-Fen (Go Brother!), and written by Hong Zi-Ying  (On Children).

“With 20 HBO Asia Original productions to date, WarnerMedia is ramping up its investment in distinctive locally relevant content this year,” said Clement Schwebig, Managing Director of WarnerMedia Entertainment Networks, Southeast Asia, Pacific and China, in a prepared statement. “Our past Taiwanese original productions, from The Teenage Psychic to The World Between Us, have not only scored critical acclaim internationally but also won the hearts of fans across the region and beyond. Fans can look forward to more HBO Asia Originals premiering this year including more Taiwanese productions starting with Workers”.
