Terry Matalas (Star Trek: Picard, 12 Monkeys) plans to introduce a Marvel villain for the forthcoming MCU spinoff series, Vision Quest. According to ScreenRant, this series will be the third installment in the WandaVision trilogy, and it is one of the very few projects left in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga.
According to an article on mxdwn, Todd Stashwick (Star Trek: Picard, 12 Monkeys) was, in fact, revealed to join the cast of Vision Quest back in 2024, although audiences were kept in the dark about who his role was. According to Collider and accessed via ScreenRant, Terry Matalas revealed at Star Trek Las Vegas that Stashwick will play Marvel’s Paladin in Vision Quest.
In the Marvel comics, Paladin is a mercenary/assassin-type villain who frequently butts heads with other beloved superheroes. He has run into conflicts with those such as Punisher and Daredevil. With Stashwick now joining the cast of Vision Quest, his story in the MCU timeline could be similar to those previously explored in the comics, although this time, he will clash with Vision himself. ScreenRant notes that it is possible that Vision will not be the only hero that Paladin will run into in the MCU, as it is still unknown if Vision Quest will be the only work that Stashwick will appear in.
The Vision Quest series, which will star Paul Bettany (WandaVision, Avengers: Infinity War) as Vision himself, will follow the hero and Avenger after the events of WandaVision. The hero will now have to grapple with his existence after his resurrection. Furthermore, showrunner Matalas also confirmed that Emily Hampshire (Schitt’s Creek, 12 Monkeys) will be replacing Dawn Michelle King (Spider-Man: Far From Home, Iron Man) as E.D.I.T.H., as the the series aims to focus on handful of Marvel AIs, ScreenRant writes.
Vision Quest will premiere sometime in 2026 on Disney+, although an exact premiere date is still unknown.
