In celebration of May the Fourth Be With You, Disney+ released the first full trailer for its upcoming Star Wars series, The Acolyte. First announced in December of 2020, the two-episode premiere arrives a month from today. View the trailer below.
The Acoylte finds a respected Jedi Master facing a dangerous warrior from his past in the wake of mysterious Jedi murders. As forces of Light in the Force delve deeper into the mystery, they discover something more sinister disturbing the balance.
The series stars Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give, Bodies. Bodies. Bodies.) and Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae. Supporting cast includes Manny Jacinto (I Want You Back, Nine Perfect Strangers), Dafne Keen (Logan, His Dark Materials), Charlie Barnett (Russain Doll, Chicago Fire), Jodie Turner-Smith (Without Remorse, After Yang), Rebecca Henderson (Appropriate Behavior, Single Drunk Female), Dean-Charles Chapman (Catherine Called Birdy, Nefire I Go to Sleep), Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Marvel’s Jessica Jones, The Matrix).
The Acolyte is the first live-action Star Wars series since last year’s Ahsoka. Promising to be darker than the Rogue One prequel, Andor, the series is created by Leslye Headland (Sleeping With Other People, Russian Doll). Star Wars creator George Lucas is attached as an executive producer along with Kathleen Kennedy (The Mandalorian, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny), Simon Emanuel (Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Batman), Jeff F. King (Drive to Kill, Overruled), and Jason Micallef (Butter, Elvis & Nixon).
They are joined by producers Rayne Roberts (Rogue One, Star Was: The Force Awakens), Damian Anderson (Wonder Woman 1984, The Marvels), Eileen Shim (House of the Dragon, No Way Back), and Rob Bredow (Avengers: Endgame, Solo: A Star Wars Story). Co-producers are Charmaine DeGraté (The 100, Chamebrs) and Kor Adana (Mr. Robot, Dune: The Prophecy).
