‘Two and a Half Men’ to End After Next Season

Nina Tassler, the president of CBS entertainment confirmed that the upcoming 12th season of the show will the be the last one.

CBS announced that the Two and a Half Men series will end with the next season. The network presented its 2014-2015 schedule with Chuck Lorre’s comedy receiving the Thursday 9 p.m. slot on the CBS fall schedule.

Nina Tassler said in the announced that “Chuck Lorre is creating a season-long event. We did very well last year with announcing final season of How I Met Your Mother here, too. Chuck is very psyched about this; he’s got some great ideas and very big surprises,”. Tassler continued by saying We know fans and audiences respond to that and that should really give us a nice boost when we launch our new comedy.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the executive didn’t comment on whether Charlie Sheen’s return would be one of the surprises.

The decision to end the series starring Ashton Kutcher and Jon Cryer comes after CBS gave the comedy an early renewal in March, which was a rare move for the show, which usually has to negotiate new contracts for its leading men.

Still, the comedy it’s expensive for the network with Kutcher being the highest-paid sitcom actor on TV, earning around $700.000 per episode, while while Emmy winner Cryer was compensated about $620,000 per half-hour.

The 11th season (which recently ended) average about 2.3 million viewers among the 18-49 demographic and 9.1 million total viewers.
