Since its premier back in August 16, HBO’s DC series, Lanterns has truly captivated audience with unique narrative and with its latest episodes having scored the series outstanding rating. According to Deadline, the plot of the series follows a detective style plot, with the partnership of John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre (Old, Krypton), and Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler (Bloodline, Anniversary) figuring out the mystery cases in a small town.
The plot of the latest episode delve more in John Stewart’s tough childhood, in which his parents tried to toughen him and make him fearless, with some unusual tactics by shooting an apple off their head. We later see his time within the marine, in which a failed mission by Hal Jordan’s interference made him leave. Year pass, he meant the guardian, played by Laura Linney (Ozark, The Truman Show) in an abandoned mall, in which she started to test him overnight.
Reported by Deadline, the series since its beginning has been able to accumulate 20 million views and are still growing, while also becoming one of HBO’s must watch series. It was recently confirmed by WBA that Lanterns has outperformed some of the recent series which include IT: Welcome to Derry, The Penguin and True Detective: Night Country. With several episodes remaining, the series’ viewership is poised to surge, positioning it to secure the top spot among HBO’s television shows.
Stated by Deadline, this showcases that the stylistic shift from relying on heavy spaces battles to a more down to earth, gritty narrative is paying off well with each episodes building more of each individual characters. With several episodes remaining in the first season, audiences will undoubtedly discover who or what is responsible for these strange occurrences.
