According to Deadlines, Prime Video cancels Nicolas Cage’s (Ghost Rider, National Treasure) superhero series Spider-Noir after one season. The hero series is the second series ordered and the first to make it to the screen under multi-title deal between Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television, based on IP from Sony Pictures’ Universe of Marvel Characters.
As per Deadlines, the streamer was set to wait to see how the series would do before making a decision to continue or not. Although the series won’t continue, the deal with Sony will still continue; the two sides are carrying on with development of multiple projects, with one of them going into series order. The new series is being kept under wraps, with all shows under the deal having a linear debut on Amazon’s MGM+ platform followed by a streaming release on sibling Prime Video.
Deadlines reports that Spider-Noir did well in both reviewers and viewers, earning a 92% critics score and 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and landing 11 Emmy Award nominations. This was one of the most nominations of any Prime Video series in 2026. The production for the series was higher than most, as it filmed both color and black-and-white versions. Since streamers base their renewal decisions primarily on cost vs. performance, it might have fallen short on performance.
According to Deadlines, Prime Video’s Spider-Noir follows a ragged, aging private investigator named Ben Reilly in 1930s New York City who is forced to confront his past life as the city’s lone superhero. This series, based on the Marvel Comic with the same name, is led by Cage, who also plays the main character. Joining Cage on the series is Lamorne Morris (Fargo, New Girl) as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li (Sinners, Babylon) as Cat Hardy, Karen Rodriguez (The Big Leap, The Haunting Wives) as Janet Ruiz, Abraham Popoola (Slow Horses, The Great) as Lonnie Lincoln, Jack Huston (Outlander, American Hustle) as Flint Marko and many others.
Spider-Noir is available to stream on Prime Video in both black-and-white and color.
