‘Twisted Metal’ Becomes Peacock’s Most-Binged Comedy Series

The video game adaptation series Twisted Metal debuted on Peacock on July 27th. This post-apocalyptic series was created by Michael Jonathan Smith (The Common Cult, I Own You), Rhett Reese (Deadpool, Zombieland), and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Ghosted). According to Deadline, since all ten episodes premiered, Twisted Metal has become Peacock’s most-binged comedy premiere.

Deadline also notes that during its premiere weekend, Twisted Metal reached up to 400 million viewing minutes. NBCUniversal, the company that owns Peacock, did not reveal the number of people who watched Twisted Metal. However, Deadline notes that the series is becoming a part of Peacock’s top original series.

The television series is based on the video game of the same name developed by Sony Computer Entertainment. The video game was created by David Jaffe (Cliffhanger, God of War) and Scott Campbell (War of the Monsters, Warhawk).

The premise of the first season of Twisted Metal revolves around John Doe, played by Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Hurt Locker). He is tasked with delivering a package in order to be granted a place to stay in New San Francisco. However, this delivery trip is not easy as he must make his way through post-apocalyptic cities where he encounters dangerous individuals and their vehicles.

Other stars of the series include wrestler Samoa Joe (AEW Rampage, AEW Collision) as Sweet Tooth, Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, In the Heights) as Quiet, Neve Campbell (Scream, Wild Things) as Raven, Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man 3, Over the Hedge) as Agent Stone, Mike Mitchell (The Tomorrow War, Sonic the Hedgehog 2) as Stu, Richard Cabral (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, American Crime) as Loud, Will Arnett (Arrested Development, BoJack Horsemen) as the voice of Sweet Tooth, and more.

Audiences can stream all ten episodes of Twisted Metal on Peacock and discover for themselves why this series has set audience records for the streaming service.
