‘Tremors’ Syfy TV Reboot No Longer Happening

Syfy has decided to pass on the Tremors pilot which would have starred Kevin Bacon taking back is original role. Tremors was going to be a television follow up to the movie. The film was was a 1990 cult classic that focused on a repairman (Bacon) and a friend of his to solve some mysterious deaths in their small desert town named Perfection, Nevada. They end up discovering a group of giant, worm monsters which eat human flesh underground. The group has to fight to stay alive.

Bacon posted the news on Instagram disappointed that the reboot is not going to happen. He said, “Sad to report that my dream of revisiting the world of Perfection will not become a reality,” he wrote. “Although we made a fantastic pilot (IMHO) the network has decided not to move forward. Thanks to our killer cast and everyone behind the scenes who worked so hard. And always keep one eye out for GRABOIDS!”

Andrew Miller (The Secret Circle) was writing the script for the revival. It would have picked up after 25 years after what happened in the film. Valentine McKee (Bacon’s character) attempting to save the town again; however, this time he also has to battle against his age, alcohol, and his delusional hero complex. Universal Cable Productions (UCP) decided to pick up the project on June 2017 and co-starred Emily Tremaine, Megan Ketch, and Shiloh Fernandez.

Bacon showed interest in coming back to Tremors in 2015. He joined up with Miller, Blumhouse, and UCP to try and bring back the series. He said, “This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting. I just got to thinking, ‘Where would this guy end up after 25 years?’
