It seems that Kratos from God of War is about to be a big deal in the upcoming live-action adaptation series on Prime Video. According to Screenrant, the plot of the series hasn’t been released but will surely follow the 2018 video game, in which Kratos and his son, Atreus, played by Callum Vinson (The Night Agent, Crystal Lake), traverse the nine realms to scatter the ash of their late wife/mother while also battling creatures and gods along the way
According to Screenrant, several episode scenes will have to be reshot because the role of Kratos was originally supposed to go to Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy, The Odyssey), who had a history of being the voice of Thor. However, after the actor sustained an injury, production was temporarily paused, and a recast was made.

Reported by Screenrant, Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, Army of the Dead) will be portraying the iconic character and shared a post on his Instagram page that showcases that the intense training has bulked him up 20 pounds to match the giant size of Kratos. It’s clear that Bautista is pulling out all the stops to tackle his role as the Ghost of Sparta. The series will have the father-son duo interact with others, which will include Mimir, played by Alastair Duncan (Hogwarts Legacy, NCIS), Sonya Walger (Lost, Anon) as Freya, and Mandy Patinkin (Homeland, Criminal Minds) as Odin.
At the moment, there hasn’t been a confirmed release date for the live-action God of War, but it has already received a two-season order from Prime Video, which will cover both 2018’s God of War and 2022’s God of War Ragnarök. The first season is scheduled to consist of 10 episodes, with the run time for each one still unknown. If the series makes a strong start, it could join Prime Video’s other video-game-related series, like Fallout.
