The folks at Pixar have a history of putting the “Toys” in some scary situations, from mutant toys to giant incinerators, but now they have some real frights with Pixar’s first ever Halloween special Toy Story of Terror!
TV Guide reports the story will center around cowgirl Jessie as she tries to overcome her fears of abandonment and tight spaces, in a takeoff on the old Agatha Christie chestnut And Then There Were None (aka Ten Little Indians). Said director Angus Maclane, “Toy Story has a tremendous pedigree with lots of beloved characters the audience wants to see — and here we are picking them off one by one!” The specials director also promises a ” very happy ending, along with homages to Psycho, Friday the 13th and Night of the Living Dead.”
All the familiar players of the franchise have returned, Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear), Timothy Dalton (Mr. Prickle Pants), Don Rickles (Mr. Potato Head) and Joan Cusack (Jessie).
Toy Story of Terror! airs tonight on ABC at 8/7c
