In a strange turn of events, Letterkenny’s Evan Stern (RoboCop, The Void) and Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan’s TikTok exchange last week ended up with Keenan jokingly petitioning to play Stern’s father in the long-running Canadian sitcom. According to Revolver, the exchange started when Stern discovered Keenan was Letterkenny fan and made a video about it on TikTok.

In his TikTok, Stern shared moment from a behind-the-scenes rapid fire interview with the Letterkenny cast in which he revealed his favorite band is Tool, followed by a post on Keenan’s Instagram in which he donned Letterkenny shirt. While Revolver states that “it shouldn’t be too surprising that Keenan might enjoy [Letterkenny]” based on his sense of humor, the show has enjoyed a exponential increase in popularity over its nine season run. The series boasts both a cult-following and mainstream celebrity fans such as Brad Pitt (Moneyball, Ad Astra), via Toronto Star.
As if to prove his devotion to the unique comedic jargon of Letterkenny, Keenan launched a response to Stern on TikTok. After watching Stern’s original video, Keenan bantered back “calm the fuck down — or you’re gonna pull hammy” and ended his retort with “figure it out,” via TikTok. Not only did Keenan’s video emulate the language and tone of Letterkenny, but the Tool vocalist wore a second Letterkenny t-shirt in the video and included the hashtag #PitterPatter, referencing the show’s unofficial catchphrase.

Revolver then reported that Keenan commented to Stern: “did I pass my audition to get to play Roald’s long lost grumpy father in Season 10?” While Keenan may have missed the boat on season ten and eleven of Letterkenny, as the show recently wrapped back-to-back filming in Canada, perhaps the role of Roald’s aloof father could be available to him in the future – stranger things have certainly happened in Letterkenny.
For Keenan and other fans of the series, there is no shortage of upcoming content from the fictional Canadian town. Not only will seasons ten and eleven be making their way to audiences in due time, but a full-length spin-off series, Shoresy, is also on the horizon for fans.
