TNT’s ‘The Alienist’ Adaptation Premiere Set and New Trailer Released

TNT has set a premiere date for the adaptation of Caleb Carr’s The Alienist and released the new official trailer, Deadline announced. The thriller drama is set to premiere on Monday, Jan. 22 on the cable network.

Set in 1896 in New York City, this series follows the search for a serial killer who murders boy prostitutes. Theodore Roosevelt, a newly appointed police commissioner seeks help from criminal psychologist Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, known as the alienist, and newspaper illustrator John Moore to secretly conduct the investigation. Sara Howard, a secretary who aspires to be a female police detective, joins this force in finding out the person behind these gruesome murders. Brian Geraghty (Chicago P.D.) stars as Teddy Roosevelt, Daniel Brühl (Rush) as Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, Luke Evans (2017’s Beauty and the Beast) as John Moore, and Dakota Fanning (Twilight Series: Breaking Dawn) stars as Sara Howard.

Also starring are Matthew Shear, Robert Ray Wisdom, Douglas Smith, Matt Lintz, and Q’orianka Kilcher. Jakob Verbruggen, who directed episodes of Netflix’s Black Mirror and House of Cards, serves as the director of The Alienist and also executive produces alongside Eric Roth, Cary Fukunaga, E. Max Frye, Hossein Amini, Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin and Rosalie Swedlin, and Chris Symes.

The Alienist will hit TV screens on Monday, Jan. 22 at 9/8c on TNT.
