Tim Allen Covers Dual Roles In ‘Last Man Standing’, ‘Home Improvement’ Crossover Episode

Last Man Standing fans will be seeing double in a special episode set for the Fox comedy’s final season. According to Deadline, star Tim Allen (Jungle 2 Jungle, The Santa Clause) will pull double duty, reprising his Home Improvement character Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor. In the episode entitled “Dual Time,” Allen’s Mike Baxter will meet the stranger with his face when his wife hires a repairman. Check out the preview of the episode in the season nine trailer below.

According to DeadlineLast Man Standing was created by Jack Burditt (30 Rock, The Weekend) and executive produced by showrunner Kevin Abbott (Roseanne, Cristela). Allen also serves as an executive producer along with John Amodeo (Titus, Arrested Development), Becky Clements (Snowpiercer, Hanna), Matt Berry (Devious Maids, Desperate Housewives), Kevin Hench (Mr. Iglesias, Road Hard), Richard Baker (The Santa Clause 2, Full Frontal Comedy), Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, Arrival), Ed Yeager (Grace Under Fire, Problem Child), Mary Adelstein (Made of Honor, The Experiment), Linda Teverbaugh (The Drew Carey Show, Who’s the Boss), Mike Teverbaugh (Better Off Ted, Twenty Good Years), Pat Bullard (Call Me Fitz, Malibu Country) and Rick Messina (For Richer or Poorer, Jungle 2 Jungle).

Allen’s stint as Tim Taylor lasted for eight seasons on ABC, according to Deadline. From 1991 to 1999, the accident-prone, Binford Tools fanatic and TV show host shared laughs and lessons with his on-screen family. The show starred Patricia Richardson (Strong Medicine, The West Wing), Johnathan Taylor Thomas (I’ll Be Home For Christmas, The Lion King), Zachery Ty Bryan (The Rage: Carrie 2, Longshot) Richard Karn (Ctrl, Snow Buddies), Taran Noah Smith (Little Bigfoot 2: The Journey Home, Batman Beyond), and the late Earl Hindman (The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, Silverado).

According to DeadlineLast Man Standing’s final season will premiere on January, 3 at 8:30 p.m., with this episode airing on January, 7 at 9:30 p.m. Along with Allen the show stars Nancy Travis (So I Married An Axe Murderer, The Vanishing), Amanda Fuller (Red, White & Blue, Grey’s Anatomy), Christoph Sanders (Faith-Based, Ghost Whisperer), Molly McCook (Perry Mason, The Front Runner), Jordan Masterson (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Greek), Jonathan Adams (Green Lantern: The Animated Series, No Ordinary Family), Krista Marie Yu (Dr. Ken, Just Another Nice Guy), and Hector Elizondo (Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement).
