‘The X-Files’ Reboot Casts Eight Guest Roles For Developing Pilot

Deadline reported in an exclusive that Hulu’s reboot of The X-Files has cast eight guest roles for its pilot, including Steve Buscemi (Monsters, Inc., Con Air), Tantoo Cardinal (Where The Rivers Flow North, Falls Around Her), Sofia Grace Clifton (All the Wrong Reasons, The Keys to Life), Ben Foster (The Mechanic, Six Feet Under), Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs, What If…?), Lochlyn Munro (Freddy vs. Jason, A Night at the Roxbury), and recent Weapons best actress Oscar winner Amy Madigan (Uncle Buck, American Woman). The ensemble will join the pilot alongside previously announced leads Himesh Patel (Don’t Look Up, Tenet) and Danielle Deadwyler (The Harder They Fall, Till).

Deadwyler and Patel will play two completely new original characters for this reboot, introduced, via Deadline, as two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents who form an unlikely bond when assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplainable phenomena. Series creator Ryan Coogler (Black Panther, Creed) serves as writer and director for the pilot, just off of winning the Best Original Screenplay Oscar in March for his critically-acclaimed film Sinners. He serves as executive producer alongside X-Files original series creator Chris Carter (Millenium, Harsh Realm), Jennifer Yale (The Copenhagen Test, Legion), and Zinzi Coogler (Creed III, Judas and the Black Messiah) and Sev Ohanian (Missing, Space Jam: A new Legacy) under Proximity Media (the Cooglers’ production company). Yale is also credited as Showrunner – with Proximity’s Simone Harris and the company’s director of development Dezi Gallegos as co-executive producer and to oversee the pilot. Cast members Deadwyler and Patel are credited as co-EPs.

The pilot is still in development, so there are no details at this time on what part each guest will be playing.
