With the confirmation of Dutton Ranch season two being made, we have gotten word that Ed Harris (How to Make a Killing, The Tiger) will be returning for the second season. However, this does not sound promising for Harris.
For those who don’t know, Dutton Ranch tells a story about two ranchers named Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, fighting to survive on their 7,000-acre ranch amid tough times and stiff competition against rival ranchers. Harris plays the character Everett McKinney, a former Navy helicopter pilot turned veterinarian and ally to Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. However, when it came to the filming of season one, it was not a great experience for Harris.
According to Deadline, Harris issued this statement in a interview with Variety: “Midway through this first season, I was ready to go, I said, ‘Get me the f*ck out of here,’ to tell you the truth. Because I didn’t feel like I was being used… I felt a little bit misled. Prior to signing on for it, I was talked to quite a bit about what the season was, and what my character was going to do, and that I was one of the four main characters. Villarreal (The Sweetest Kill, Landman), Marc Menchaca (Stages, The Abandons, Dead of Winter), Natalie Alyn Lind (Marked Men, Sugar), Annette Bening (Lucky, The Bride!), Berto Colon (American Horror Story, Trapped), Sterlin English (Ransom Canyon, Eddington), James Eddie (Destination Heaven, Glint), and Josh Stewart (The Odyssey, Criminal Minds).
Dutton Ranch is a spinoff of Taylor Sheridan’s (The Madison, Tulsa King) Yellowstone franchise. Hauser and Reilly reprised their roles as Beth and Rip for the series. You can stream season one of Dutton Ranch and all five Yellowstone seasons on Paramount+.
