Margo’s Got Money Troubles is being renewed for second season at Apple TV, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Apple TV has renewed the literary fiction novel for a second season, a week before its first-season finale and on the heels of critical acclaim for the series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series follows Elle Fanning (Maleficent, The Great) as Margo, a college student who becomes pregnant and starts an OnlyFans account to support not only herself but also her baby. Michelle Pfeiffer (Scarface, Grease 2) and Nick Offerman (The Last of Us, Parks and Recereation) play Margo’s parents, a former Hooters waitress and ex-professional wrestler. Rufi Thrope (The Girls From Corona Del Mar, Dear Fang, with Love) wrote the novel on which the series is based. The series also stars Thaddea Graham (The Irregulars, Wreck), Nicole Kidman (Babygirl, Big Little Lies), Marcia Gay Harden (Flubber, The Mist), Greg Kinnear (Sabrina, The Last Song), Michael Angarano (Sky High, Wild Card), Rico Nasty (Night Teeth, Let It Snow) and Lindsey Normington (Anora, Snuff Queen).
“Embarking on the adventure of bringing Margo to the screen has been one of the greatest joys of my life,” says Fanning, who also executive produces via The Hollywood Reporter. “When I first read Rufi’s stunning story, it felt wholly original and, most importantly, human. Then, with David’s writing, along with our epic cast of heart-wrenching performances, it truly felt like we had something special. Having the opportunity to bring more of Margo’s troubles, creativity, fearless spirit and authenticity to audiences with a second season makes me incredibly happy and excited. I can promise everyone they’re in for a wild, messy and beautiful ride.”
“Margo’s Got Money Troubles was an irresistible proposition to me from day one.” The Hollywood Reporter reported that Kelly noted. “I fell in love with Rufi’s world and unpredictable characters, and it’s been rewarding to see audiences embrace this series. We can’t wait to continue this story with our partners at Apple and A24.”
“Ever since David’s sharp adaptation of Rufi’s novel debuted, audiences have wanted to spend more time with these riveting characters and the brilliant cast behind them, led by Elle, Michelle, Nick and Thaddea,” says Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV via The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re excited to watch Margo and the entire family continue to defy the odds in season two in the way only they can — with humor, determination and creativity.”
Margo’s Got Money Troubles is available to stream on Apple TV.
