‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ Sets Cast with Production Underway in the UK

The Witcher prequel has determined its cast including a Lord of the Rings alum, according to Deadline. The series is now filming in the UK.

As reported by DeadlineThe Witcher: Blood Origin will include Lenny Henry (Lord of the Rings) as Balor, Mirren Mack (The Nest) as Merwyn, Nathaniel Curtis (It’s a Sin) as Brían, and Dylan Moran (Black Books) as Uthrok One-Nut.

Blood Origin is set 1200 years before the events of the original series. The story will follow the creation of the prototype Witcher and the events that led to the cataclysmic “Conjunction of the Spheres,” when the worlds of man, monsters, and elves became one.

Sophia Brown (Disobedience), Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), and Laurence O’Faurian (Vikings) were previously announced to lead the six-part series. Also joining the cast is Jacob Collins Levy (The Liberator) as Eredin, newcomer Lizzie Annis as Zacaré, Huw Novelli (The Capture) as Callan aka “Brother Death,” Francesca Mills (Harlots) as Meldof, newcomer Amy Murray as Fenrik, and Zack Wyatt (Karen Pirie) as Sydrill.

The original series, starring Henry Cavill (Man of Steel), had one of the highest ratings draw for Netflix. The trailer for the second season was recently released with a December 17 release planned. Production on the second season also wrapped in the UK.

The Witcher: Blood Origin does not have a release date yet.
