‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings Slump Continues

As previously reported, The Walking Dead has been bringing in staggering low ratings throughout Season 8. ComicBook.com notes that Sunday’s episode viewership was at 7.47 million people watching live; numbers they haven’t seen that low since March of 2012. Even with the declining viewers, it is still one of the highest rated programs on Sunday night.

TWD episode 7 entitled “Time for After” saw Rick finding his harda$$ side again (finally) while Eugene came to terms with the fact that he’s only out for himself. Much of Season 8 has involved character “come to Jesus” moments putting aside the more gruesome Negan-based events of last year.

Actress Pollyanna McIntosh, who portrays Queen of the Dump Jadis, addressed the severity of what occurred in season 7 possibly affecting how viewers interpret the showing moving forward. “I think season seven knocked a lot of people sideways with the gore, you know? And we took that into account, but it also set up… the truth of it, this is a show from a comic book, you know?” She goes on to note, “And people will be dying in hideous ways. I mean, that’s part of the personality of the comic book. And as long as we keep the great character development and the great threads of morality and the human condition within there, I think we have some room to have a bit of fun with that blood and gore.”

Teasers at the end of episode 7 promised scenes we’ll all be talking about in the mid-season finale. What are your expectations for S8.E8 “How It’s Gotta Be” on Sunday? Share your comments with us below and tune into AMC on December 10 at 9 p.m. to see if TWD can dig up some better ratings.
