The world of the beloved Harry Potter franchise is continually evolving with a new chapter around the corner. According to Screenrant, the production for the highly awaited reboot series is still ongoing, but controversies have arisen from collaborating with the franchise’s creator, J.K. Rowling (Order of the Phoenix, The Deathly Hallows).
HBO’s executive, Casey Bloys, goes on to speak about Rowling’s involvement within the reboot in an interview with Screenrant. The entire conversation can be viewed below.
“The decision to be in business with J.K. Rowling is not new for us. We’ve been in business for 25 years. We already have a show on HBO from her called C.B. Strike that we do with the BBC. It’s pretty clear that those are her personal, political views. She’s entitled to them. Harry Potter is not secretly being infused with anything. And if you want to debate her, you can go on Twitter.”
According to Screenrant, the reboot has already garnished a star-studded cast which includes John Lithgow (Shrek, Dexter) as Albus Dumebldore, Janet McTeer (Ozark, Kaos) as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu (The Lazarus Project, Gangs of London) as Severus Snape and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Into the Badlands) as Rubeus Hagrid. There is currently no information on the actors that will be playing the main trio of the franchise.
According to mxdwn, the reboot will have a lot in store for new and existing fans, as its already been order for multiple seasons which will spam across various volumes of the books.
According to Screenrant, even though books and movies of the Harry Potter franchise have been widely beloved, the hate on the reboot series comes from Rowling’s personal beliefs. The Harry Potter reboot is rumored to begin sometime from late 2026 to early 2027. The success of the reboot all hinges on HBO being able to capture the magic while thoughtfully navigating the complex legacy of its creator.
